The MAS has been committed since its establishment in 1928 to the improvement of county government in Mississippi. The objectives of the MAS are

  • To advertise and bring into favorable notice the opportunities and resources of the various counties

  • To foster an exchange of ideas among counties

  • To develop an effective and efficient system of county government throughout the state

  • To maintain a statewide agency for the purpose of advancing the general welfare of the state and the counties of the state, and

  • To create and promote a feeling of fellowship and understanding among the counties and the people of Mississippi
